Default ActiveSync 3.8 Questions

Hi,

I bought an Ipaq 2750 a few days ago from www.totalpda.co.uk, as this is my first PDA, I am slowly getting to grips with it.

I have been testing various things in syncing between the PDA and my desktop and have come up with the following questions;

1. I am able to sync all but Notes, it was working fine, until I moved the notes from the My Documents folder to one called My Notes, still within the My Documents folder though. Since I did that I haven't been able to get Notes to sync at all, it seems to do one of two things all the time, either come up with an error message with the option to Resolve, but when I click this it just tells me to disconnect the device and reconnect it again. The other thing it sometimes does is just sit there ad infinitem on Looking for Changes. If I take Notes out of the sync list it works fine with all the others. I have tried all kinds to get it to work, reloading the activesync 3.8 software on the desktop, deleting and re-creating the partnership, deleting all the notes from both the PDA and Outlook 2003 on the desktop, soft rebooting and hard rebooting the PDA, but nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

2. One thing I noticed is that if I create a task in Outlook that has a start date of some time in the future, it doesn't show on the PDA at all, even though activesync says it has sync'd an item in tasks. If I then change the start date to be current date or before, it shows up on the PDA straight away. Is there any way of having future dated tasks showing up on the PDA?

3. Is it possible to sync files directly to the SD card in the PDA?

4. I have a standalone Win XP Pro SP2 PC as the desktop, running Office 2003 Pro with Outlook directly connected to a Pop3 mailbox at my ISP. I also have Zonealarm 5.5 Pro firewall on this PC, which is connected to the internet via an ethernet cat5 cable to a Netgear DG834GT adls wireless router, with the adsl connected to it. My question is I would like to get activesync to work from both a bluetooth connected mobile phone (Nokia 6310i) and from a couple of other similarly setup wireless access points. Presumably I need to setup a VPN for this to work, my question is how do I do this, do I need to set it up in XP, Zonealarm or on the Router itself, or all of them?

Any help or suggestions gratefully received.

Cheers,

Peter.
