Default Slow ipaq 3950 with Tom Tom2

Can anyone help me? I have a new ipaq 3950 with Tom Tom 2 Great Britian
map. When you are searching for a city it takes forever to find whichever city you are looking for, the streets are a little quicker, it can take up to ten mins
to plan just one journey
Specs
Ipaq 3950 PPC2003
Apacer 256sd Card
Tom Tom 2 Great Britian maps
Hiacom HI-203E GPS

I have a 3630 runing PPC2002 and this is instant at finding routes, is there a problem with the faster 400mhz chip or am i doing something wrong

I had a problem with tom tom 2 on my H2210 where it ran dead slow. This ws casued by the wrong GPS device being select under GPS status. had it set to COM3 and not compact flash. Once this was corrected it ran at the correct speed. I'd check your settings and make sure it's looking at your GPS device.

Thumbs up Sorted

OK guys thanks for all yor help, I have discovered that there is a problem with the rom version 1.11 and the handling of large amounts of data reading and transfer from the SD cards, there is at this moment no rom upgrade. However there is a patch for the rom and this does improve the problem.

This is a link to hp support to check your ipaq

Thumbs up need for speed

How ever if this is still not fast enough for you or you just dont want to do the patch. If you have a spare £100 pounds lying about, Buy yourself a compaq flash jacket and memory card the rom 1.11 has no problem with this,

3950 with patch
You will gain between 5 to 10 seconds searching for citys or streets

3950 without patch
about 2-3 mins
