GPS mapping on my ipaq h2215

Unhappy GPS mapping on my ipaq h2215
I bought a bluetooth gps for my ipaq thinking it would be cheaper and better than just buying a gps to use separately from my ipaq. Wrong.
I bought Microsoft pocket streets to help map on my ipaq with th gps. Not much better.
I need a simple program that will show where I am, allow me to input a lat/long waypoint and allow me to get a "GO TO waypoint", so I can use my gps and ipaq to help me.
Any ideas?

At present, it is for on rural roads in central alberta; but will be used for hiking in the future. I work for Telus and have to do mapping to my destination on the fly.
