Unhappy Please help, big problem HP3715+TT3 bluetooth

I have a HP5550 + wireless/Bluetooth TT3 and have been delighted with it from day 1 - so I highly recommended it to a friend who bought a HP3715 and the same TT3 in Jan this year. To date he has still been unable to use tomtom. At first he had no GPS connection and after much playing around and re-installing we were told to load upgrade 3.07 which would then enable us to access com 6. (as the current CD sold by Tomtom does not work with windows 2003 - if only the shop or instructions had said that!)

The upgrade 'appeared' to be successful but when we tried to choose GPS on the PDA to check the version, the PDA said there were no maps etc. All the tomtom icons - gps/wizard etc had disappeared from both the front screen and programmes.

We then tried to re-install the CD using his laptop (active sync v 3.7.1) and the installation process seemed to start but then it just stayed on the screen showing that the data was transferring for nearly 2 hours. Each time we have tried the same thing happens.

When we have tried to re-install using my laptop it states there is, ‘unknown architecture and I can’t get any further.

We are both very frustrated, he has spent a lot of money and I feel very guilty as I recommended it. He needs it for his job, and 4 months on we are still no further forward!

Any help would be very gratefully appreciated.

1) backup your data on the PDA
2) try soft reseting the PDA to see if it will allow tomtom to install again
3) hard reset the PDA, check your manual
4) reinstall tomtom
5) install the tomtom update 3.07
6) setup the bluetooth gps
7) change the com ports in tomtom gps to: TomTom Wireless GPS Bluetooth Serial Port Com 6

If you cannot do this, you can send it to me and i will install both.

I had a spot of trouble installing My Rikaline Bluetooth GPS receiver. I found my trouble come the finish. In the GPS status of tom tom it wasn't set up right.

I set up mt PDA to search and find Bluetooth devices!! Namely the GPS receiver via bluetooth and after finding it and installing it named it accordingly etc to set it up. After this it still didnt work so i went into the tom tom program and clicked on GPS status. In the window are 3 tags on the bottom!! Click on the GPS tag

In the top right there are a TWO drop down applet bars. Look in the top one for the Receiver you installed (named) and select that.

Then in the second Applet bar down click on that and select "bluetooth GPS"

After they are both selected then to the left is a box check it to place the tick in there!!! Once the tick is in the box click back to status and it should be searching for satalites

(As long as the GPS module is correctly installed Named and switched on!!! And the Bluetooth settings are swithed on on the PDA then it should work.)

Hope it helps a little

Good luck

Zeb
