Unhappy ACER N35 does not recognizes SD cards

I have recently bought the ACER N35, and I have followed all the instructions of the useless quick guide (it is a shame there is no complete manual with troubleshooting....).

But...it never started downloading Destinator program. I did an additional Hard Reset (and Soft), and after turning it on....nothing. If I go to System Info, it does not show available/used/free MB for the SD card....it seems to me that it does not recognize the cards. I tried with the card of my digital camera....nothing.

Is there something I am missing?? Please, need your help since I will do a trip in 2 weeks....and I NEED to have it working as it should.

BTW, I do not understand exactly what is "Soft Reset" and what is "Hard Reset".

Thanks a lot for your support.

Welcome to our forums.
A soft reset is pressing the button labelled RESET, it is essentially like clicking START --> SHUTDOWN --> RESTART on a desktop PC....closes all programs and restarts the operating system. A hard reset normally requires a combination of buttons to be pressed and restores the PDA to the way it was when it came out of its box.

If you cannot view the contents of your SD card then either your cards are faulty (unlikely if you are using them in a camera) or the SD card reader in the PDA is faulty.

I have an Acer N30 and initially had a Kingmax 1 GB Secure Digital card. Much of the time the Acer did not recognise this card unless I unplugged the card and plugged it back in.

I returned the card and bought a 1GB Sandisk card which works perfectly.

The Kingmax card is thinner than a normal SD card which might have been the problem, alternatively the card might have been faulty.

I suggest that you unlplug and plug the card in while the Acer is turned on. You should hear a sound as it is unplugged / plugged back in.

Then go to Settings, System, Memory, Storage Card, In the Drop down you should be able to switch from Rom Storage to SD-MMC Card. If SD-MMC is not in the drop down then your card is not being recognised.
