Red face H4150 character recognition problems - help pls

I've just bought a H4150, my first PDA. Nice and small (a bit too small I thought at first but getting used to it).

I think it's quite flimsy to tell the truth, especially the back flap for the battery but luckily you don’t need to open the flap everyday.

I also read about the heat issues with the 5550 and that made me run a mile. No problems with heat on the 4150.

Do not like the connection to the cradle, at first I thought it wasn’t going to fit at all. I suppose like a new key it needed a little use, now it goes in ok ( but I still think these things are flimsy – suppose it’s just being used to PC’s and good/strong/big connections)

It’s got a good clear, bright screen. The battery life seems ok but I haven’t yet used wireless or Bluetooth. However I’m disappointed that a mobile device like this would omit a battery level feature.

The one thing I’m having major problems is with the character recognition software. Ok I know I’ve got bad handwriting but I’ve been though the software to enhance the recognition options and still no joy. In writing a short sentence I’d be lucky if the PDA recognised 3 or 4 characters. Even writing single characters very slowly it still had major recognition problems. It forced me to look though the forums (couldn’t really find anything there) then phoned HP support who called me back saying they had the same problems after they tested their own model. They don’t think it’s an issue with the machine but with the software. They say it’s the same software used in all their models so I’d have the same problem if I upgraded/changed model.

Is this true? Does anyone know of any software or updates to help.
Thanks
