PDA Internet Access??? Would love to know if it is actually really possible to access the internet via a PDA - I am beginning to seriously doubt it as I have been trying for 4 days to do it using all the info contained on the pages of Filesaveas's site.
State of play so far....
I have a new Ipaq H2210 PocketPc PDA and a Nokia 6310i mobile phone. I have successfully "paired" these two devices for bluetooth connection. I confirm that WAP/GPRS are enabled on the Nokia 6310i as I have just tried it and it works fine. I have contacted my usual ISP (Tiscali/Worldonline) and asked them how I can access them directly from my PDA/Nokia and they have given me the same telephone access number that appears on the filesaveas pages - I have called this number directly from my Nokia and true enough there is a modem on the other end! So far so good!
i have inputted all the settings as laid out clearly on the filesaveas instructions for connecting to Tiscali directly and have come up against a brick wall. As I said above I can call the Isp directly from the Nokia but when I get the PDA to do it I can clearly hear an intermittent tone from the Nokia - just like I have dialled an incorrect number - but the "number dialled " on the Nokia's screen is the correct one - how can this be? I have tried this dozens and dozens of times, I have tried deleting all the settings on the Pda and re-inputting them all without success - same thing every time - intermittent tone from the Nokia as it tries to dial the number and then it just clears the line. What am I doing wrong?
I bet it's something really simple! PLEASE can someone enlighten me
Many thanks.
