Default New kid on the block needs pointer

Hi there,

I am about to buy my first PDA. But which one?
My first idea was to buy an older one on ebay say a 3970 as that would bluetooth with my nokia 6310i it seems to have a good display and good storage. However looking at your sight I am not so sure. Perhaps you can give me a few honest pointers.

This is what I want to do with it. First and foremost it must sync with my laptop a Dell 7000 running windows ME using outlook 98. I need the PDA to hold the contacts list, tasks, notes and calender. I am not sure wither I will want to surf or send and receive emails but this would be a nice option if it was not going to cost me much more.

I will also need to store a dictionary on the PDA preferably the concise oxford the requirments of which are :"PC Requirements-Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP . Pentium 166MHz or higher . 32MB of RAM . 10MB free hard disk space . 256-color SVGA display . CD-ROM drive . Internet Explorer 5.0+ . Printer . Keyboard . Mouse . Internet access to register and download upgrades"

I can see you sell an alternitive but would like to run the oxford.

The other thing I like is the possibility of fitting a keyboard. Since I am not a touch typer and onlly use a few fingers it would seem to make sense to use one of the compact clip on ones as I suspect you work it with your thumbs. Right?

I would like the PDA to be tough and well built because it will probably get knocked around a bit it my pockets and I don't want it to break easily.

I want a good display as I will probably carry pics of my family on it also.

I see you have a PDA with a pre fitted keyboard. Perhaps this is one I should consider. Does it have any drawbacks over units where you can remove the keyboard?

My laptop does not have bluetooth although I may upgrade to one with this later.

So from what I have said so far what do you reccon is the best solution new or used and which model and which accessories?

Advice very welcome, Thanks

Ian
