Default HP Rx1710 vs Dell Axim X30

Thinking of buying my wife a Pocket PC for Christmas - she doesn't want/need a high spec machine so I am looking at the Rx1710 or X30.

Any suggestions/recommendations/thoughts/advice?

Don't know much about the Rx1710 but, I bought a X30 624Mhz refurb from these guys initially to replace a iPAQ 3870 for my satnav.

I think that the X30 that I got was excellent - very light, compact, fast, the display is excellent and with wireless it's got everything you could need in a PDA.

Only thing I could fault was the sound level which seemed quite low compared to the 3870, so I've kept the 3870 for my tomtom 5.1 satnav and use the X30 for business use.

Sorry for not replying sooner only I was waiting for others to respond so that I could get some form of consensus!

As my wife doesn't drive, volume level isn't important so I think Dell will be getting some business from me!

Thanks for taking the time to respond,
Dave.

no problem.

Take a lok at the refurbished X30 624Mhz on here before you order from Dell...she'll never know the difference as they look brand new and you get everything with them including the usb cradle and leather wallet.

You will save yourself quite a few quid ;-)

ps. nope I don't work for them ;-)

The 1710 would probably cover everything your wife would need but for the difference in price the X30 is pretty much the best deal you could get.
The software is the same on both. The main difference is the specification as the Dell will do everything a lot quicker and have more memory.
Plus it also has bluetooth and Wifi connectivity and although you may not use these now they could be handy to have later on.
