Default HELP! 2210 connecting to 6310i

Help,

I have just bought a 2210 pda to go along with my Nokia 6310i, but i am having big problems trying to connect to the Internet via Bluetooth on my 6310i.

No matter what I do I cant get the phone to dial any number at all. Bluetooth is enabled on both devices, both the pda and mobile say they are paired. But i cant get the phone to dial any number... Its driving me mad....

Can any body help, im getting desperate??

I had similar problems with my 2210 and SE T610 - but a call to Vodafone Tech Support sorted it all out quite quickly (I had to setup both the phone and the PPC).

I assume you want to connect via GPRS, and not actually dial an ISP - I had to enter a strange dial number *99***3# (where 3 indicates the position of the GPRS dial settings in the phone itself).

I originally found a helpfull guide on the net, but can't seem to find it again now - but this looks quite usefull:

I'll repost as soon as I find it.....

Oh and a unique modem string, which was applicable to the T610 specifically: cgdcont=3,"ip","internet"

this again looks usefull as it gives the 6310 setup - but relates to older ipaq / operating system, concept is the same however:

I'll keeep looking..

Oh here we go, this is the article (the phone and ipaq are different, but O/S is WM2003) - this worked for me, but I can't recommend enough that you speak to your mobile providers tech suppt - Vodafone were excellent.

One of the earlier links focussed on the 6310 so it would be worth reviewing all these documents.

Only final suggestion I'd make, is to buy a GPRS "bolt on allowance", as the magabytes and ££££s soon add up!.

Happy mobile surfing.

OK - did you enter the "Extra dial-string modem commands:" in the Advanced button in Connections as

+cgdcont=1,"ip","internet"
this is the string for my phone, but it seems to apply to the 6310 too from the pdf linked to above?.

So close but yet so far! I've got as far as connecting to GPRS on my T610 and my IPAQ 2210 has connected to the phone (icon in the top says so). HOWEVER -- data doesn't flow. I type in a web address (including the live.vodafone.co.uk) one but it just says that the page cannot be found. I can access GPRS WAP on the phone just not on the IPAQ. Any ideas? This used to work really well pre the 1.10 flash update - anyone else had these problems after the flash?

must be a problem with iPAQ connection settings after the rom upgrade (the activity "bar" on the phone display suggests the phone is ok).
have you re-entered the vodafone internet settings? (user name, password etc.).

Yep, I've re-entered all the voda settings on the ipaq and the phone as well as the extra string. The Ipaq connects to the GPRS service via the phone as normal (I get the double arrows), it's just that no data seems to get transferred.

I'm sure something similar happened to mine - connection manager would link to the phone by bluetooth, but the "connecting" message didn't come up onthe phone. I don't know what it was, and ended up just deleting and re-entering the connection settings.
