Default GPS for PDA's question - requirements

Hi,

I am thinking of getting a PDA to run GPS software on it, such as Tom Tom or something similar.

I was wondering what the requirements are for the PDA to have to enable GPS?

Does the PDA need bluetooth for GPS to be compatible? Something else?

Also, what is the minimum space for a PDA to install GPS software?

Just looking for one of the cheaper PDA's which can provide good GPS software with enough memory, any recommendations?

Thanks

Many of the PDA's have integrated GPS. You could browse through this site or have a look http://www.globalpositioningsystems....633e812ac20988

It's usually better to go for a PDA GPS Bundle, which usually works out cheaper.

e.g. my choice was a Mio168 with TTN5 Software and maps of Western Europe including GB. I really only needed GB and France at Street level so could have gone down the route of PDA with GB mapping and then purchased Street level France separately and saved a few £££'s but if I then decided to purchase say the Spainish map, the cost would then have exceeded the bundled price.

Personally I'm not a fan of all in-one solutions. If one bit breaks, then your whole device is down.

Also, then about what you really need. I'd say Bluetooh should be on the spec as just about every mobile now comes with this, and if you wish to use TomTom's PLUS services, you'd need BT and a BT enabled phone.

If you're interested or need email on the move, then maybe Wi-Fi is another consideration - although this will push up the cost.

A better way would be if you tell us what invisage you'd use the PDA for as well as you're anticipated budget.

It would be predominantely for GPS really, I was just wondering what you actually need on a PDA for the GPS to work, I assume it is bluetooth?

Bit of a newbie so not quite sure!

What are the cheapest PDA's you can get with bluetooth capabilities for putting GPS onto it? I guess you would have to take into consideration the amount of memory the GPS would need aswell?

Could you maybe get PDA's for under £100 with GPS capabilities? PDA's on their own?

How about http://www.totalpda.co.uk/Mio-A201-P...PS-system.aspx
That's got WM5 (so future proofed), BT and everything you'll need hardware wise. Then you'd just need the software.....
