Default iPAQ 5550: setting standy period

The battery on my iPAQ 5550 seems to drain very quickly, even when switched off, and I wondered whether this can be improved by altering the standby period under Settings -> Power. What is the influence on battery capacity of altering the standby period from 72 hours (max.) to 12 hours (min.)?

As usual, the help files provided seem next to useless!

I have heard that the ROM update actually helps the increase the battery life of your IPAQ, a few of my customers have been advised by HP to do the updates.

Changing the standby time to a greater value means that your iPaq will not have as much 'run time' ie if oyu get 6hrs run time on 72hrs then you will get 7-8hrs run time if you set it to the min standby time.
The standby time means that after your iPaq has turned off due to low power, the time youve set in hours is how long you iPaq will 'retain' your information before losing it all. ie 'hard reseting' effectivlely.

Hope this helps

Joe
