Exclamation ROM storage Ironic message

A up folks, I recently bought an Acer n30 PDA as new. I've used it well (and it's got a small crack near the stylus silo) but what my problem is is the ROM storage on the unit. I have approx 3MB free space on the ROM and yet when I try to delete something, it mentions this error:

"Cannot delete Folder

There is not enough free space to complete this operation."

After becoming confused about the stupidity i reloaded file explorer to find the file dissapeared. But, after soft resetting the file popped back up! I've tried deleting via activesync and i get the same message. There is no problem with the SD card i've got and the main memory of the unit (the one that wipes when it hard resets)

Do i need to replace the ROM storage or is it a problem with the windows mobile I've got?

Thanks

Hi Kaltek

I found your post of Mar 2006 about a problem with Rom storage on an Acer n30 Pocket PC. My Acer n30 has exactly the same problem. Did you ever resolve the problem with yours? Are you even still using your machine or have you moved on.

The Acer n30 has been a great machine for me in all other respects, but being unable to use the Rom storage is totally frustrating.

Re you using the latest ROM?

Could be this issue has been fixed in an update.

I have tried all of the following to fix the problem with the ROM Storage:

1. Soft reset
2. Hard reset
3. Deleting files from ROM storage using ActiveSync
4. Reformatting the ROM Storage with flash card formatting software

None of the above worked, so I resorted to flashing a new ROM image. My machine came out of the box with 1.00.17 and I flashed the ROM with the same version. After doing this, all files in the ROM Storage were deleted and the ROM Storage was functional again.

1.00.17 can be hard to find online these days, so if anyone wants a copy, send me a PM.
