media player on win2003

using windows media player on my ipaq 2210 Pocket PC 2003 I seem to be unable to play anything other than .WMV video files.
MPG and AVI won't play at all.
Also when i go to the MS websote loking for an update, i get the options of version 7.1 for pocket PC or version 9 for windows XP /2000

am i missing something?

You can download 3rd party software which will alow you to watch differnent media files
