| | | help required re choice and syncing im in the market for a converged device and have narrowwed my selction to the following which utilise either windows mobile 5.0 or 2003
Windows mobile 5.0
i-mate K-JAM Pocket PC Phone HTC TyTN Pocket PC Phone
HP iPAQ hw6915 Mobile Messenger
Qtek 9100 Pocket PC Phone
Windows mobile 2003 pocket pc
BenQ P50 Pocket PC Phone
now here is the dilemma
i am wanting to use the device as follows
home: sync with microsoft outlook for contacts, calendar and tasks only
work: sync with lotus notes for contacts, calendar and tasks only
what software would i need on my pc at home to accomplish above
what software would i need on pc at work to accomplish above
i am assuming that when i bring data in from two separate places that it is recognised within the device as to where it came from?
im hoping you can help as i have asked lots of ppl who tell me i wont be able to sync with notes as its a real problem, they then suggest some software i go check it out and it doesnt state it will sync notes! ggrrrrr
i assume if i require different software on the pc at work to the one at home that this wont cause me any problems either.
can someone please help me understand this mindfield? i dont want to purchase a device until im 100% certain that it'll work as i want it to

| | I'd go WM5 route myself.
Each PC will have it's own profile on the device, and you can specify different things to sync and what to do when a conflict occurs.
You'd need ActiveSync, which is free from the MS site. |

| | I think you would need a separate program on the PDA that is compatible with lotus notes as I dont think the standard outlook on the pda would be compatible. Quote: |

| | | so if i understand you correctly:
my home pc has outlook and i wish to sync contacts, calendar and tasks and the PDA will also have outlook on it which these data items will be entered into
my work pc has lotus notes and i wish to sync contacts, calendar and tasks and the PDA does not have any suitable software into which to place those data items?
Is this based on your experience of seeing issues with syncing of Lotus Notes from one PC, outlook on another to one PDA device? NB i dont want to sync any email stuff

| | | i was hoping that there would be a sinlge program that i woudl look at on the PDA so I coudl see my calendar from home and work at the same tiem for instance. so i'll require two separate programs on the PDA, synicign independantly with either lotus notes on my work PC and outlook on my home PC? bit of a pain isnt it? but if thats the only way this will work in getting both sets of data onto my handheld then so be it.
would the "today" on the PDA show resutls from both programs or just the outlook one?
anyone have any recommendations with regard to softweare for the PDA that'll handle lotus notes calendar, contacts and tasks really well? |

| | I've never used the software so I'm not sure. It would be pretty pointless if it didnt appear on the today screen although it might show as a different item to the outlook appointments. i.e. one line to show outlook appointments one line to show lotus. google'd this http://www.lotusnotes.com/Articles.nsf/ID/022804-Device Quote: |

| | | do you think it might be a good idea for me to contact each of the manufacturers and speed out to them what im trying to acheive and see what they say?
it would appear that im quite unique here in wanting to sync with outlook from home pc and notes from my work pc
obviously i appreciate all that advise from everyone here, thanks, however im still a little nervous about shelling out all this dosh and not being 100% certain that it'll do exactly what i want :-(

| | You're not alone according to the following search: http://www.google.co.uk/search?sourc...da+lotus+notes
Looks like you need to shell out for an app. Contacting the manufacturers is pointless. You really need to email Lotus and Microsoft and bang their heads together to offer an out-of-the-box solution. | |
