Default Help - PC to iPAQ h5550

I'm having some trouble opening files which I have transferred from my PC. The files are being sent ok but when I try to open them it displays, There is no application associated with (the file). Run the application first, then open this file from within the application. How do I open the files then? I know I probably can't do it in File Explorer so where can I send my files to where I can open them? The files are databases but surely this shouldn't make a difference.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

It really all depends on what application you created the database in, was it access?

Access? I don't understand. The files were created in Works Suite 2004 and then transferred from My Documents. I just can't seem to open them. The only way I know they're there is in file explorer.
