External USB hard disk causing hard reset?

Got a Western Digital 120GB WDXMS1200TE, 2.5" external hard disk today. Plugged it in to the acer n30 and it did a hard reset.

Does this happen with other pdas / external drives?

Any cures?

Generally it's not possible to connect a hard drive directly to a PDA.

Who's connector and porwer connections did you use?

I connect the hard drive to the usb socket on the acer power / usb in / usb out cable.

I borrowed my dads seagate 3.5 inch external drive and the acer recognised that immediately without problems.
