Angry Another Activesync weirdness

with your help, I persuaded my new NEC 900C to talk to my PC at home and synched files TO the NEC. I have now set up the other partnership at work and ticked the Files Option, to sync FROM the NEC to the work PC. which it does, but the folder it syncs to (N:\bluck\NECMobilePro900 My Documents) is empty. I've checked an example document and searched for it, just to make sure it wasn't synching to another folder, but it isn't.

any ideas? Both PCs run XP Pro. AS version 3.7 at work and 4.2 at home, but only 'cos I've not got round to updating AS at work.

Help?

Help?
I gave up synching Files for a while, just dragging them to my PC as and when I wanted to use them. but that kind of defeats the object, so I synched with just my work PC yesterday morning and everything looked ok when I logged off at the end of the day. Now I come in this morning and go to sync, I get the message that 552 File items are not synchronised. I only opened one last night and didn't even save it.
So, having made appropriate copies on my PC, I click "Sync". Activesync's response is to DELETE the synchronised copies on my PC but, thankfully, leaving intact the copies on my NEC.
Can anyone offer a reason why? And what is the function of the File Synchronisation Settings tab in Activesync? I never used it with my HP Jornada 720. the files I wanted to sync (all of them) just appeared listed there. do I need to specify every damned file that I want to sync? seems a bit weird to me.
