Syncing HTC Touch with hotmail?

Hi,
I am new to the whole 'smartphone/ PDA' experience and I was wondering, instead of syncing an HTC Touch with MS Outlook could you sync it with your emails from hotmail?

Yes just create a new account using your hotmail details.
