Default Mio 168 not synchronizing: not connected

I have had no problems with the Mio but I had to re-format the laptop that I used for synchronization. I reloaded the Outlook and ActiveSynch on to the laptop, following the instructions I think although I probably connected the Mio before loading ActiveSynch. However I uninstalled and did it again. The Mio was detected OK but when I attempt to synchronize I get a message that there is no connection; I can not seem to get the laptop and the Mio to recognize that each one exists.

Any advice, please?

Thanks

Start ActiveSync and go to File - Delete Mobile Device.

Connect Mio to your PC.

If that doesn't work, disconnect. Go into your Mio and change the Device name. e.g. MY_POCKET then do the above again.

I had to do this each time my son synch'd his up without problems but when I tried to sync again, mine wouldn't connect. (Strange)

Thanks but when I go to into File in Active
Sync, Delete Mobile Device is greyed out which suggests that for some reason the Mio is not recognized. However My Computer shows a Mobile Device although without a name. Do I need to do something to get the Mio recognized?

Regards.

I've suddenly started having this problem too and as yet have no idea why. Everything had been working and syncing ok before, but now even though it tells me it's connected on one level, on another it says it can't detect the device! What do I need to do to sort this out, or who do I need to contact?

Did you re-install your USB drivers?

Unistall ActiveSync (again) and use CCleaner, Free from http://www.ccleaner.com/ and run Cleaner a couple of times, and then Scan and Fix Issues and run it several times until no more issues are found.

The programme is 100% safe to use and will get rid of any previous references to ActiveSync.

Re-install ActiveSync, with Device disconnected.

It is working again. I am not altogether sure why but here is what I did:
Via http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...ivesync45.mspx I upgraded ActiveSync to 4.5. Then with the Mio not plugged into the USB, I started ActiveSync and went to File and Get Connected. I followed a number of instructions and, miraculously, when I connected the Mio to the laptop, synchronization started. Don't ask me why!

Thanks for your advice Border_Collie.

Glad you got it going again but I could kick myself. I assumed you had ActiveSync to 4.5. If I hadn't you would have solved it a week ago. It's now working, that's good.
