Default Tom Tom on myguide 3500

hi all

Just bought a myguide 3500 mobile from ebay, it has 2 navigators on it. TomTom and Falk. none of them work.

I've tried to get the tom tom working but it is saying No GPS receiver. I've tried to configure it by choosing other nmea receiver then it asks for something called a baud rate, which is set at 4800, then it asks for a port:

usb cable
serial cable on sp2
serial cable on com1
com3
native IR

havent got a clue from here, i've tried clicking all of them one at a time but nothing seems to get the signal and compass moving. everything is showing as 0.0000 and 00 00 00 00.

any idea what i'm doing wrong?

help would be really appreciated. as you can tell i'm not really that great with these things.

thanks.
