Default Ipaq 3850/tom tom 2 problem

I would appreciate some advice... I have just installed tom tom 2 software on my 3850 in an attempt to get gps. This the kit with tom tom receiver. After following the instructions there appeared to be no communication between receiver and ipaq. I then downloaded the tom tom upgrade which I preceeded to try and transfer to the ipaq...now for some reason the active sync cant find the device. This was working fine before but now I just get a warning USB device not recognised and something about a malfunction. I have followed the troubleshoot and upgraded active sync etc. and it still doesnt work... any ideas? Could it be a problem with the port on the ipaq so that its not communicating with tom tom receiver or connecting properly with the cradle?

Thanks

Hi scooby

I would recommend that you take your PDA, perform a soft reset (tap the stylus in the bottom hole on the PDA. This is just like reseting a PC, you will find this solves alot of problems with PDA's.

I have tried both soft and hard reset and neither has removed the USB device warning. I tried starting from scratch on a different laptop and I got the same response.

In device manager it comes up as an unknown device and that no drivers are installed, yet when trying to reinstall the drivers it states the best drivers are installed..

Thanks

Hmm..

Can you tell me what operating system you are running, sounds like Windows XP. If so can you:}

1) Unplug the the usb cable
2) Take the PDA out of the cradle
3) Restart your PC
4) Plug the cable back in once Windows is full booted.
5) Place the PDA into the cradle.

If it comes found new USB device and it still does not work.

1) Right click on my computer, select properties, select hardware then device manager and scroll down to the bottom of the page.
2) There should be a menu that says Windows CE USB Devices.

Try that and post back
