Default O2 XDA 2s

Hi all, I want to upgrade from my Ipaq 3830, and I'm thinking of getting an O2 XDA either 2s or 2i. I have some queries though.

Does anybody know, can you use the Traffic Function with Tomtom on a PDA phone. Does anybody have any experience of using xda's with tomtom or checkpoint. Any advice?

I find problems with my old Ipaq which I can't get to connect to the Internet, so cannot download updates of databases, and having trouble even with the basic setup. I did it before, but lost everything when I had to hard reset my device.

Any advice would be welcome.

Cheers,

Bozman

Welcome to our forums.
Both TomTom and Checkpoint wil work fine on the XDA.
Hopefully someone else can answer your question about Traffic as I've never used it.

i use an xdaII (not the S) with TomTom and the traffic function works well - one thing to watch is that if you've used internet explorerer with the pda docked then you need to restart or use IE separately before the traffic function can connect

by the way i couldn't get checkpoint to load properly so i tried poi-warner which is very slick and syncs with the internet on a single press

well recommended

I have an XDA IIs which works fine with Tom Tom, I use a Holux CR100 cradle with a built in GPS receiver.Checkpoint works but it is not giving me audibe warnings of speed cameras etc so I may try POI warner, I may not have set it up correctly! Not sure. One problem I have is the Sony Ericsson Bluetooth car kit, HCB 300. I cannot get the XDA IIs to connect up and work with this car kit!

Is there any reason why when I install TOM TOM onto my XDA IIs I lose the bluetooth connection to my bluetooth car kit. Its driving me mad as I cannot egt them to pair up again succesfully!. The XDA works fine with the car kit when Tom Tom is not installed. can anyone suggest a way around this frustrating problem?

I had similar problems when I tried to have both a bluetooth headset and bluetooth Tomtom working together on my XDA2. After much fiddling I assumed (rightly or wrongly) that it wasnt keen on 2 bluetooth devices at the same time. Is your Tomtom using a bluetooth receiver?. In the end I now drive with the XDA2 wired headset and despite sore ears, it does the job.

On the subject of Tomtom, Checkpoint, Traffic and XDA2's Ive got the whole lot working, including voice prompts on checkpoint. Checkpoint is the fiddly bit especially if you want all of the different speed limits notified seperately but it works eventually. Good luck!

I to have an XDA 11s which seems to run perfectly well with Tom Tom, although I too have had problems with the bluetooth, and try therefore not to use the XDA as a phone and just as Sat nav device with a wired reciever and a courier management package, although this keeps on crashing, I have been told that by disabling the keyboard drivers it will enable the XDA to run alot quicker. DOES ANYBODY KNOW HOW TO DO THIS?????? O 2 support seem unable to give me help with this.
