Question Speed Camera software for HP/TOMTOM Navigation Pack

Hi there,

I've recently purchased the HP/TOMTOM Navigation kit (IPAQRZ 1710 & TOMTOM Navigator 3 - HP edition) and I'm trying to get some speed camera software working with it.

I've tried to set up Checkpoint, however, although I can get it syncronising correctly, and have been through configuring the alert, it doesn't appear to be linking with TOMTOM and it isn't bringing up any warnings.

I've also noticed you can set up your own POI's in the HP version of TOMTOM and you can get it to alert you when you approach a POI, so this may be a possibility (I just need to find a way of syncronising POI's).

My preference would be Checkpoint or similar because of the Detection angle (direction of travel) option.

Has anyone got this working or have any recommendations.

Thanks

Welcome to our forums.
Checkpoint will not work with the version of TomTom supplied with the 1710 pack. You will need to make use of the built in POI warning feature.

Thanks, I had a feeling this may be the case.

Is there any quick way to copy in a speed camera database and get the version of TomTom to recognise it as POI's??? Are there any databases you would recommend???

Download the Speed Camera Database
Open your internet browser and go to
http://www.pocketgps.co.uk/uksafetycameras.php
And download and save the file pocketgps_uk_sc.zip to your desktop, extract all the files to a folder (that you create) You need to then physically drag and drop these files onto the memory card. To do this follow the instructions below:

You need to highlight the files and select copy
Click on My Computer
You should see a new drive under Removable Disk
You need to click on the removable disk and double click on the map folder, right click and paste the files across, very easy to do.

Configuring the Speed camera database

Tap on the mains screen
Select “change Preferences”
Click on “arrow” to go to more options
Click on “Maintain POI”
Click on ”warn when near POI”
Enter “PO” and select pocketgps Gatso
Enter Distance for warning, normally 100 yards.
Select Warning sounds
Tick box “Warn only if POI is on route”
Click on the “Main menu again, more options, browse maps, options,
Select “POI” and and POI in the bottom left corner and select GPS Gatso select done
You can then browse the maps and see where the cameras are and if you approach a camera that is on the database. you should here a sound warning you of this
