Question Road Angel / Pda

Hi,

Have just bought a Road Angel 2 - scratchy sound quality, poor hood, but is now my best buddy.
I want to add a SATNAV capability by using a PDA etc and to save me trawling the net to find the most suitable components, I wonder if I could impose on the membership out there, to advise which :-
  1. is the best PDA to use
  2. is the best software which includes red light cameras
  3. and how you update this
  4. the best card
  5. anything else
Thanks to you all in advance
Best Regards
Phil (6 points and climbing)

1. Depends on your budget and what you want, iPAQ 2750, 4700 would be worth while looking at:http://www.totalpda.co.uk/section12.aspx is the link to the HP section

2. Tom Tom is a popular GPS program, which you can add POI to speed camera's, check out our guide http://www.totalpda.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=2641 (TomTom Navigator 3 + Checkpoint Speed Camera Install)

3. TomTom release updates about once a year or later dependant on when the map data gets updated.

4. I would not recommend a card greater than 256, if you do get a larger card make sure it has fast read speed, more expensive but will get better performance.

5. You need a holux road angel cable to connect to the PDA.

Default Thanks

Thanks for prompt reply. Just one quick question; I don't need all the features of a PDA and the telesales team at TOTAL GPS/PDA said an HP 2110 would be OK to use - is this a good choice?
Thanks again
Phil

The 2110 is a good choice. It contains almost all the features of the other models without the Wifi connection and has a lower specification.

OK, have now bought a re-furbed HP2110 from you guys at TOTAL PDA. Bought an SD card off ebay, loaded the TOM TOM and all was fine for about 3 days and BANG! Have tried soft & hard resets, battery out for 24 hrs, everything. Now cannot get past 'ALIGN SCREEN' after a reset - its just frozen. When it sits on its cradle the active synch works according to my lap top and it makes all the right connection and reconnection noises - I just dont have a screen. Any ideas.....?
