This is a brilliant site for speed camera database......

http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/

This used to be free but now costs something like £20.... Very good value for money though...... Cameras are updated regularly.

It even goes better, if you can provide any new installed camera data to them the subscription is free from then on.

I recommend it £2 a month or £19 a year. Buttons for what it can save you and its updated monthly. The guys on the PGPS board are quick to sort any problems and the cameras are updated monthly.

I have only just got mine so still learning, but only seen speed cam and traffic on my TomTom Sight both for 49.95 dollers=£25.48 for both I think thats not bad.

But if I can get them on here I will have to learn one day. £2.00 sounds nice but not Traffic warning?

By the way how would you download from a sight other then TOMTOM to a TOmTOM devise useing TOmTOM home which is what came with my TOMTOM.

The £2 per month or £19 per year is for Membership, once you've subscribed you can download the Safety Camera database, which has been updated a couple of times a month for the past few months. Plus you can enter free competitions to win 'goodies' and there is also a link where you can get discounted GPS bits and bobs.

This is if you are first to report a static camera and it is verifield.

Once you've subscribed all you do is download a PGPSW Safety Camera .zip folder, unzip it and copy the .ov2 and .bmp folders into your map GB folder. I'd recommend the set of 24 cameras where you can individually set up a warning distance and you'll get a warning of the camera plus the speed of the camera shown on screen and a countdown as to how far away from it you are. Once this is done all you have to do for updates is copy the .ov2 files over.

Hi Border Collie
I have not seen a map folder on my TOMTOM Home just two main windows. left computer and right TOMTOM. Unless im not looking in the rigth place, im a bit of a dummy with these things. I dont really know how to use this someware, i think im clicking on the wrong things cos now my card is nearly full.

The map folder will be on the SD Card. You'll find it easier if you have a card reader on your PC.

First time download the TOMTOM.OV2 -UK Speed zoned complete (24 files). There are actually 48 - 24 .ov2 and 24 .bmp. Using a card reader you can drag and drop or cut and paste the files into the GB map folder. Go to Manage POI's and set up the distances you wish to be warned at for each camera.

Subsequent months you only have to copy and paste the updated .ov2 files.

Look below and decide whether you would want a 10, 15, 20 or 30 second warning and enter the appropriate distances.

Quote:

Actual Times/Distances

Mph - 30s - 20s - 15s - 10secs warning.

80 - 1173- 782 - 587 - 391 yards
70 - 1026- 684 - 513 - 342
60 - 879 - 586 - 440 - 293
50 - 732 - 488 - 366 - 244
40 - 588 - 392 - 294 - 196
30 - 441 - 294 - 221 - 147
20 - 294 - 196 - 147 - 98

These are the figures I recommend using...

Mph - 30s - 20s - 15s – 10 secs warning.
70 - 1173- 782 - 587 - 391 yards
60 - 1026- 684 - 513 - 342
50 - 879 - 586 - 440 - 293
40 - 732 - 488 - 366 - 244
30 - 588 - 392 - 294 - 196
20 - 441 - 294 - 221 - 147
