960 new ed does not take "Intructions" sound setting

Hi there

Can anybody help on this one:

when I want to change the sounds settings from "General" to " instructions" the GPS does not hold the setting and gets back to "general". the result is this very annoying ring that comes before every single instrution. It's driving me crazy... Thanks. Stef
