Question ViaMichelin X960 new edition

After several unsuccessful attempts to contact ViaMichelin by email & phone, can someone aid this aged old codger?
How can I verify whether speed camera updates have actually downloaded? The Contact Manager still shows August though the update bargraph has indicated a download.
The device cotinually bleats that my speed is excessive on our local ringroad even at 40-50 mph - the speed limit is 70! Conversely, it doesn't warn me if I am exceeding a statuary speed limit - that is unless I grossly exceed this limit.!
After umpteen directions to enter one way traffic - the wrong way - I'm not much impressed - perhaps I'm just too ancient to enjoy such thrills!

Hello Martin
Thank you. I have contacted ViaMichelin on the number you indicated. Unfortunately, it was difficult to understand the person at their end, but the gist of the speed camera update problem is there is a problem at this time and I was advised to try again in a few days.
I refered to the other peculiarities and they tried to take me through a 'hard' reset. Here again I had difficulty understanding, however, I later refered to the instruction booklet and successfully carried this out.

One major reason I bought a satnav was to be made aware of the actual speed limits on those roads where it is not obvious - however this device seems lacking in that respect. My current car has a athermic windscreen which prevents the radar snooper from operating correctly - one only knows if speed traps/cameras are active after onehas passed them!!!!!! I always try to drive within the lawful limits, but it can be difficult these days, especially hereabouts!
Thanks and regards - Dave

I've got the same download problem with my new x960. After a difficult call to the help line this morning it was suggested that i should try software patch 7.0.3 which is on the michelin web site. I'll be giving it a go tonight. good luck!

I've now managed to d/load the January speed camera update. I had already downloaded the patch but there must have been some fault? I again d/loaded the patch which brought me to a 'repair' window which did the trick!
Is there any setting that will indicate the speed limit of the actual road one is travelling on?

Couldn't agree more !
Got this for my wife, as she sometimes doesn't notice that the limit has changed(yes, I know) and it is no good whatsoever.
It tells us we're going too fast when we're doing 38 in a 40 limit, but no warning at all when we do 45 in a 30 limit.
Complete waste of time.

Sat navs are an aid, and not to be used/relied on to tell the driver the correct speed for the road.

The onus of this will always rest with the driver reading road signs and driving appropriately for the conditions and surroundings

Thank you.
What sound advice - I sure wish I'd known that before complaining that my aid doesn't work as advertised.
Now I'm not at all bothered that it doesn't work.

You'd be hard pressed to find any that a) work correctly, or b) and up to date for speed limits on the road you're on

Speed cam sites are a different matter entirely, and much more useful
