Question tomtom go500 blackout

Hi, I have a ttg500, got it a week ago last Monday. I went to North Wales yesterday, really great as I did not have to keep stopping to check the map book.

On my way back home, I stopped for a short break. I removed the tt from the docking port and put it away while I was not in the car.

Came back and redocked the tt, green light came on but no screen, nothing, blank. Removed tt from docker, no green light! Tried turning on and off with button, nothing. Panic! I tried the reset, pressed the on button, green light flickered. Reset again and the tt sprang into life then took 1.5 mins. to pick up the sats. It has worked purfectly since.

What happened and has anyone had the same problem. It was down and lifeless for a good 10mins.

thanks Pufin

That doesnt sound good. I haven't heard of anyone else having that problem but if it worked okay before and after I would keep my fingers crossed. Worth keeping a note of the date and brief description in case you have to return it to the vendor tho.

Sorry I'm not more help.

Having used the ttg500 for a few weeks now, I have not had a reoccurance of the problem. One Possible answer may have been to lack of power.

On a number of trips, I have had some difficulty in correctly docking the ttg500 to the docker, particulaly when it is dark. Its almost impossible to see or feel the unit locating correctly before it clicks into place! Even having the unit popping off the docker when driving over speed humps at low speed. Bear in mind that I drive a 27 year old VW bay window camper van with very poor cab lights and bouncy springs.

What I suspect is that I did not correctly dock the devise so it was not charging for possibly up to 4hours! Hence the lack of power, though I could be completely wrong about this.

The docking method could be put right, if the docker had a white plastic connection point, to enable easier night installation.
