Default Moving maps to another device

I'm running an HP 1710 with TomTom Navigator, UK map and Maps of Western Europe (on seperate SD cards).

On a recent trip, the screen of the 1710 took a knock whilst in a suitcase and all the LCD (or whatever it is) has failed.

Rather than get a replacement for the now obsolete 1710, can I get something like a Go and install the maps to that? I seem to remember having to activate the maps to the device the first time around - will I have to do that again?

What can be done without having to go through TomTom's painful support?

If you get the Go, you'll get the maps preloaded.

Personally I'd shop around for a new LCD, and replace it yourself. There are plenty of easy to follow guides if you search the web, and when I did a mate's Ipaq took me around 20 minutes to do (steady pace).

Alternatively, if your not DIY confident, look at www.ipaqrepair.co.uk He provides good service for such things. Replacement screen about £120 which is less than a GO.

You may be able to use your maps on a Go. It depends on what version you have. MOWE can be used on the Go and Navigator 5. It would have to be activated.
