Default TomTom ONE v2 and US/Canada maps

I've just bought a TomTom ONE v2 unit, which came pre-loaded with UK maps.

I want to buy the US/Canada maps for this, but I was informed by TomTom that the existing ones aren't compatible with the ONE v2. Can anyone confirm this? TomTom also said the Western Europe maps don't work properly either, but as TomTom sell a ONE v2 pre-loaded with European maps, I find this unlikely.

Also, when I'm all connected up in TomTom Home, I have the option of buying and downloading the US/Canada maps online, so what gives? Will these downloaded maps work or not?

Should I buy the maps online, and just wait for TomTom to make an update available that fix the problems with the ONE v2, or would it be best to wait?

Does anyone have any info. I need US/Canada maps before mid-December.

Thanks

So what's the problem surly if TT offer you a DL it will be ok? and if its not you will be entitled to your money back, if they did give you a hard time over this just contact your Credit Card Co. as they are jointly responsible under the terms of the Finance Act. From my experiences you will not then have to pay for this item on your CC bill. Of course if this should occur make sure you take a copy the security code and a copy of the files

Exclamation

I have bought the map and downloaded and installed and it is not working was wondering if anyone has got it to work - do I need to delete the UK map from the TOM TOM ??
Does not make sense as the 910 has all the maps loaded.. As you have to validate the device to download it should work.. The unit is sold here in Canada for $400CDN with the US Canada maps loaded so it should not be a hardware issue - The map should work so that is why I have raised an issue with Tom Tom and on the forum - any advice !

Tap the screen, and the menu appears.

Bottom left should be an option to change prefs (click this), then keep clicking the right arrow until you find 'switch maps'
