Default Maps Question

Hello everyone I am new here so please be gentle with me.

I have a Go910 with the Europe, Usa, Canada maps installed on the hard drive. I am emigrating to Australia soon so would like to purchase a map for Oz.

I have seen maps advertised on a SD card for Australia with no specific model mentioned. My question is, if I bought an SD card map for the Go510/710/XL etc can I install it to my 910 hard drive and will it work?

Thanks for any help

Bobby

I think it will depend on whether your operating system is up to date - sounds as though it should be. If you connect your sat nav to your pc having installed 'Tom Tom Home' (free from the tom tom website), it will detect whether your device needs any updates.

The tech support at Tom Tom isn't bad - try posting a question there if no one else has an answer here.

As for installing the map, the map will need to be written to an SD card, unless the 910 has a hard disc (sorry if it does, I don't know much about the 910)

Do your maps that you have already read from a built in hard disc? If they do, it will then depend on the free space. You may have to back up your current maps, (again via Tom Tom Home), then delete what you don't need, and then install the purchased map. This process is valid for SD cards or indeed if a hard disc exists on your device.

i believe if you insert the sd card the tomtom unit will now use the map that is installed on it, not sure if you will have to change it in preferences, switch map etc, but i dont think so, i think the sd card with overule any on the hard drive
