TomTom files new patent for digital imaging in maps It looks like reading the directions on those tiny little cartoon images on your sat nav display could be a thing of the past. TomTom recently filed a new patent for technology which incorporates digital photography into the mapping software, allowing your sat nav to display real digital images on your device.
Sat Navs of the future may incorporate a tiny camera which can take digital images of the road ahead. These images could be used to form the basis of your mapping dispay, allowing for a reduction in the sometimes ambiguous directions presented on your display. |
