Default TomTom 740 lost HD traffic with new maps

Hi there

I really hope someone can help with this -

I recently got a TomTom 740 with Liveservices and HD traffic. It worked fine for a couple of days , but then when I installed the new european maps , the HD traffic disappeared (all other LiveServices are fine, but they aren't the ones I need!).I'm driving to France in a couple of days and really need this sorted out.I contacted TomTom support several times and my issue is logged with them ,but no one has come back to me.(I hadn't backed up the device when I installed the maos as it was s new.)

TomTom support advised I restore the factory settings and hard reset the handheld, but all that has done is to lose my POIs , and also now when I connect to TomTom home, it wants to install the new maps again, which I am loath to do as it says there is no space , and I suspect that is a whole other kettle of fish...

So for now, I want to get HD traffic working, and ideally be able to have my new maps as well.Any help much appreciated!!

Have a look in the Western_Europe map folder using Windows Explorer and locate the following two files:

tmccodes.dat
traffic.dat

I bet the file size is 0KB indicating these files have not installed correctly?

If this is the case you have two options, contact TT CS and demand they send you a link or instructions as to where to get the correct size files from and installed to your device (pigs might fly)

Or

Locate the folder on your PC where the useless TT Home application stores downloads, locate the v835 map file which will need unzipping, then you will find the two above files which can be simply copied to the device using Windows Explorer replacing the two faulty files on the device - This is a known issue that TomTom seem to be ignoring, this fix was worked out over a week ago! - Mike
