Default Heat reflective windscreen blocks GPS?

I'm thinking of buying a TTGo but I have heard that the heat reflective windscreen in my Vx Zafira could block the GPS signal. Does any one know if this is true?

it is true they can block the GPS signal but you can purchase external antenna to solve this problem.

New Renaults also have Heat reflecting tinted windows fitted as standard, but on the front in the middle their is a "Airial Patch" a small part of the windscreen is not coated on anything for you to place a airial here. The tom tom's fit their nicely.

Have a Citroen C5 with HRW and the TTGO only worked about 10% of the time. I have since got the external GPS aerial fitted and now I get full strength 100% of the time.

Get the external aerial its worth it!

Hi,

I am living in Norway and am using the TomTom Bluetooth GPS in my Opel Zafira, don’t
know if this is the same car that you are talking about?

In Norway the Zafira cars that have been delivered with heat reflective windscreen have a bronze colored windscreen. I do not have this heat reflective windscreen and the GPS is working very good placed on the dashboard.

My car (Range Rover 2001) has a heated screen. I found the TTG worked fine, but sometimes let me down when I needed it most. I got the additional external antenna (by TTG) for it. It now works fine & I have the antenna inside the car. If you look carefully at your car screen you will see the lines of the heating wires running through it. Usually these wires are only set on the flat of the screen. So on the edges where the sceen bends towards the doors there are no wires. If your TTG can sit here you will have no problem. Alternatively you can get an antenna and place that on the curve of the window sill instead of fixing it outside.

Question

I've got a TTG, & I've just got my self a 1998 (R Reg) BMW 318i Convertible, but the TTG just won't pick up a signal in the car.

The screen isn't heated, but I am wondering if it's "Heat Reflective"?

Any thoughts (The TTG works fine outside the car BTW!)

Cheers.

neil sounds like it is heat reflective, you ever notice a tint in the glass on a sunny day? Check your delaer but am pretty sure that is your problem.
