Question Tomtom GO - external antenna

Help! - I have purchased a Tomtom GO, and when it manages to get a signal it's great. Motorways, A roads etc are fine, as soon as I hit town (when I need it the most) it fails miserably.

I have since purchased the official Tomtom GO external antenna and am getting patch results from it. It's definitely improved things, but occasionally there is no signal shown even though when I view the Satellite section, there are several available with great signals but all grayed out?

Can anyone give me some hints and tips for getting the most out of this great piece of kit. I would rather not use the antenna externally and wonder if anyone has specific experience of using the kit in a Peugeot 307.

Thanks in advance...
PTP

Welcome to our forums.
You try the antenna in the back window and see if that helps.

Thanks for the quick repsonse; I'll certainly give it a go.

Do you have any feedback about using the antenna in the area above the rear view mirror, suposedly free from the same heat reflective properties?

Thanks again,
Paul.

It can work there too but some manufacturers don't leave much room. Just try it in a few places and see what results you get.

The Peugots have an athermic screen so you really need an external antenna. Ideally the antenna needs to be on a metal surface, it is magnetic so will stick well. You should get 5 bars once you find the ideal position, with the satellite strength (SNR) of 40 for most of them.
