Question How can I get Tom Tom Go to find a town without an address?

I have recently bought a Tom Tom Go. (Version 4.42.) It's great - but I have run into one major problem. I have read the manual several times but I wonder if I am having this problem because I have missed something:

1) How do I use Tom Tom Go to navigate to a town, city, or village where I do not have a street name? {For instance, I want to drive to Liverpool city centre, but I don't have an address.) The manual suggests using BROWSE MAP to do this, but obviously that is no good if I do not know where to find the place on the map. Of course, I can use SEARCH in the MAP BROWSER but Tom Tom Go then demands to know a street or crossing. This seems to be a major problem - or have I missed something?
2) I notice that when Tom Gom Go presents the list of towns and streets to SEARCH, the list starts with "ANYWHERE", displayed in brown letters. But selecting "ANYWHERE" seems to always select the first street name in the list - for instance "A1" - which is usually not helpful for finding the centre of the place I am looking for. What is this "ANYWHERE" function supposed to do?

Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to our forums.
In my own experience with the TomTomGo you wil need an address to get you there. You can use the BROWSE MAP facility but as you say if you don't know where it is in the country then you may struggle, although the FIND function may offer a little help there. Essentially though the GO is designed for getting you to an address as with almost all other systems. If anyone else has a way of getting there without an address I'd like to hear it.

I’ve always used – Type town or city e.g. Sheffield, then when the prompt comes up for which street I’ve typed Sheffield again and Sheffield comes up with a “Town Hall” type of symbol beside it which I’ve selected and it will take me to Sheffield city centre.
