New SD Card

I've just gt a 256mb SD card do I have to format it? If so could any one assist me in how to do it.

Then how do I put on the map info.

you dont need to format the memory card if there is nothing on it already. You need to connect your tomtom go to your PC. Insert the tomtom go cd and install the application onto the memory card and then add the maps.
