Question Tomtom go 300 v5.2 upgrade

Hi guys, please treat me like an idiot! I recently purchased my tomtom Go 300 and to my amazement managed to download v5.1 last month. On visiting the tomtom page today saw there was a v5.2 download, full of confidence I repeated last month's procedure. Alas to confident by far, I am getting an error message stating that there is insufficient space on my SD, I would have thought it would just over-write v5.1 with no extra space required. Any ideas please would be much appreciated.

Welcome to our forums.
Normally all you need to do is delete the foreign voice files from the SD card. They are located in the "voices" folder. I'd recommend you backup the entire contents of the SD card to your PC just in case anything goes wrong. You only need the english voice files remaing in the folder, these are data05.chk & data05.vif.

You thought wrong. The 5.2 is the one built for the 500/700 models with handsfree-phone option. This needs more space for the operating system. Some confusing voice commands have been enhanced (turn right, turn right, then turn right,..) and there is a bug in the 5.2 that cuts the number of personal POI categories from 40 to 27.

Not really necessary, but can be useful if you do not have that much additional POIs.
