Default TomTom Go 700 (First comments)

I was fortunate to obtain a 700 just before going to France for a 2000 mile touring holiday. Last year I used the TomTom Navigator 3, (with an Ipaq & the full French maps on SD card), on a similar trip.

It is very convenient to use, and the re-routing calculations are incredibly fast. Planning routes presented no problem, after a good read of the instructions. I like the option to use, or not use, toll roads, which are common in France.

I was disappointed that the screen was nowhere near as bright as the Ipaq, which can make it difficult to see in very bright sunshine. I found the mapping for France was basically good, but not 100% reliable. I had no problem at all with the Navigator 3 full French maps last year, but a couple of times the 700, with its new maps, let me down completely, saying I had arrived at my destination, when I was miles away in the middle of nowhere.

Moreover, very occasionally it said turn right, (or left), when the display clearly showed the opposite. I had to always to double check the screen.

Verdict: Good, but not yet quite good enough.

Nice comments anchor.

Had mine for 2 weeks now and really cannot fault it. Only used in the UK but nothing but success with mine, The only "disscrepancy" is when travelling on route the total milage left on the journey can be 3 miles out from what reads on the signpost to what the TTG 700 is telling me. Its not a problem though in my book.
In general I can score this unit a full 10/10 marks.
