Unhappy TomTom GO with "No GPS Device"

I recently updated my TomTom Go with the v5 update which came on a new SD card along with updated UK maps.

Using this I immediately noticed that the battery life was very poor. Left unconnected to the charger overnight and the thing died even if it was switched off..... effectively it became a device that could only be used with power attached. Under the v4 software it charged fine and I could do even lengthy journeys without having to worry about connecting the charger lead.

I reported this to TomTom and they suggested downloading the 5.2 update from their site and installing this........and I did so.

Now it's even worse - as well as the battery life problem not being fixed it consisently comes on saying "no GPS device" and refuses to see any satellites - even left outside in the garden (on an extension lead to keep it charged) for several hours. Once it hooked up but then on powering off and back on again up popped the "No gps device" message.

I have an expensive paperweight.

I reported this to TomTom but no response after a few days now.

Looking thorugh these forums I see lots of similar issues with TomTom software hooking up between a PDA and an external GPS device, but this is the TomTom GO's internal one!!!

Does anyone know whats happening????

By the way - plug the old v4 SD card in and it goes back to working just like it used to!!!

All suggestions gratefully receieved!

Regards

Martin
