Angry Go 700 PC connection problem

I have tried to connect the 700 using the usb cable to 3 different pc's (windows 2k and XP) and none of them recognised the 700. Tomtom have admitted it is a problem so are not able to do a backup or an upgrade.

That's quite unusual. There have been reports, that the cable fits quite tightly into the socket on the GO, so maybe all you have to do is push a little more and have a look whether the cable does snap in.
If you have a digital camera, you might try that cable, as the USB cable for the GO is just a standard cable used for various other USB devices.

The PC should have USB 2.0 when you want to backup the data. 1.3GB can take a looong time via USB 1.1

Does the GO show the "cable connected" screen?

I agree you have to push the cable in until it clicks. I have tried a cable from a Canon digital camera without any success. After going through the please wait screen it ends up on a white screen showing the back of the Go with the USB cable plugged in. I have this morning provided Tomtom with a list of what pc's I have tried to connect too including what windows software and service packs they are running.

No help to you I know, but I have just connected my TomTom Go 700 to the PC without problem. I used the USB cable provided.

WinXP with SP2; USB2.0 port.

Just a thought: After you see the screen with the image of the TomTom and USB cable, have you opened "my computer" on your PC to see if an additional drive is shown?. It is on mine.

'My Computer' does not show an additional drive. Tomtom have agreed the unit must be faulty and will be replacing it.
