tromtom 500 question

I have recently bought a TomTom Go 500, however I have noticed when using the device if I take a wrong turn the tomtom keeps saying turn around where possible, instead of adjusting the route due to my error.

Is there a setting I need to change ??
any ideas

The TT will continue to tell you to turn round until you've gone so far out of your way, that it needs to calculate a new shortest or fastest route (depending on your preference settings). In other words, turning around is still your best option.
