Cool TomTom GO 300 - How to improve the signal strength

I had noticed that when I removed my TomTom Go 300 from its standard base the signal strength improved by around 60% with the result that it gave me improved satellite locking. After a few experiments I have found that the signal is diminished when the contacts of the base engage into the TomTom. The solution is to cut up a small piece of PostIt note and stick it over the contacts on the underside of the TomTom Go so that don't they connect to the base. In this way the signal strength is improved permanently. The only drawback is that you will need to plug the power lead into the TomTom rather than the base.
