Default Updated UK Maps, are they FOC?

I drove along to Stansted the other day, along the new'ish stretch of the A120 from the Braintree end.

According to my box of tricks I got to Stansted in half the time calculated by simply driving over fields and other areas... in other words it doesn't know about this rather long stretch of A120.

Assumedly a new map release at some point in the future will rectify this, but I'm curious to know if us folks who have these new TT Go's will need to pay for map updates? Does anyone know?

Hi I new here, got me a TomTom go500 on Monday. It was interesting watching my box track me across fields when I went on the new section of A5 (Hints by-pass, Tamworth). This only opened this month so I would not expect it on some maps. Because of the time it takes to compile and publish maps. NO map is 100% up to date.

Default wow, i thought it was just me

I have asked tomtom on a number of occasions, why they have not included this 15 mile stretch of road on their maps. It has been open for about 2 years, so why does it not exist ?. Tomtom, just say that mapping is the responsibility of another company. But I can buy maps in local petrol stations which show the new road for 99p, why do i have to pay £450-00 for an inferior product ?.
Also, try looking for the Makro store in Enfield, apparently the road does not exist. Also, if you need to drive through Braintree, it sends you down a "buses only" road almost everytime. All these have been reported ti them, but they do not care. I think we need to start complaining...........

Tomtom can only work with what they are provided and Teleatlas provided this info. Tomtom will only update the maps together with a software update (i believe) and this would make sense otherwise there would be a hundred different versions of tomtom 5 (each with slightly different maps as they are always changing).

As for the comment about buying maps for 99p and why do you have to pay £450+ for an inferior product, I cant see tomtom holding a gun to anybody's head. If you believe that a 99p paper map is superior to tomtom then I think you are in the minority. It is obvious that the cost of producing a paper map would cost a fraction of tomtom.

Even if tomtom provided an update every month and charged the consumers for this, I expect that there would not be many takers as realistically I bet that Teleatlas would charge tomtom a fortune and this cost would have to be passed down to the consumer.
