Unhappy Update v5.420 didn't work

Just had a nightmare attempting to update my GO 300. Eventually ended up formatting the SD card and restoring the back-up - nervous moments I can tell you!

Problem was although update completed successfully, when switching back on it freezes at the picture of the GO unit (next screen after the hands logo). Initially my attempt to restore failed with the same effect, but after reading other threads elsewhere I decided to format the card first.

Relieved to say this worked and I'm back to v5.201 again.

Is this a bug? Anyone else experienced the same?

...any ideas Stevie???

I recently updated my 700 to 5.420 with no problems

Not sure if there are any differences in the way that the 300, 500 & 700 accept updates?

Griff.

As a follow-up to my original post...

During a long trip over the weekend (guided by my GO 300) the screen suddenly turned off and the TomTom logo appeared briefly, followed by the GO picture screen and the progress bar slid gently across the foot of the screen.

When it finally settled down and the GPS compass stopped whizzing round and round, sure enough my route had been cancelled, my bluetooth link to my phone was gone (and therefore traffic updates) and certain icons were greyed out e.g. home location. For some reason my favourites and extra points of interest remain intact.

Any ideas? Is this the beginning of the end for my GO 300?
