Default save point off road as favourites?

Hi all - just got a Tom Tom GO 700.

Is it possible to save as a favourite a point not on a road?
I want to do this for two reasons- my home is on a road not shown on the map; and I often visit hilltop sites with my work, and would like to be able to save them.

Mapping here in Ireland is awful, must be the worst in Europe - most roads that are not primary routes are not mapped on the Tom Tom.

Any help appreciated.

You can, although TomTom can only take you to them if they are on a road, so it will take you to the nearest road point - which may or may not have an access route to the POI.

How please? If I travel to a point not on a road, I can't see how to save that point.

Please tell!

Thanks,

Andy.

Tap the screen and select add to favourites OR browse the map, find the blue arrow, zoom in (that's where you'll be with GPS lock), click the 2nd icon from the right and ADD poi from the screen that appears.

Does't work. I get a message which says " No useable locations near cursor " when I hit the cursor button.

Any ideas?

You can create your own POIs using POIedit. This allows you to select precise locations using Lat and Lon which can be obtained from streetmap.co.uk

You then create a bmp image to go with your file and that appears on your screen as a POI.

If you are able to list the lat and lon positions with a brief description of each location I can set up a file for you to get you started. Just PM the details to me and I'll have a go for you later this week. If you can send it in this order
Description, Lat, Lon. and pref in excel but not absoluteley necessary.
