Unhappy TTG 700 wont charge wont turn on !!!!!! help

new to this computer thing people so be nice!
my tomtom go 700 wont turn on it was past on too me by a friend who has now left us.
i've try'd the reset thing and holding the on button for ages nowt!!
what does happen is strange plug it in the cig lighter and you have to put your eye right up to the LED on ttg to see it its deffinatly on but real dim the light on the charger dims so somthing is happening

its had a brand spankin new battery in it and the same thing happends so its not that
pls any suggestions would be apprecated even if its to bin it thanx

Likely the brightness has been turned right down.

You'll need to turn it back on via the on screen menus.

no sorry its deffinatly not that this 700 is not turning on at all wouldnt there still be sound and the computer would show it was conected if that was the case? !!! thanx for the speedy reply tho

thanx for the link but try'd it all ready it starts by charge the unit for two hours but belive me this unit is not charging at all !!! this is where the problem is what can this be !

If you've had a new battery fitted and the units not charging then it doesnt sound like its been fitted correctly and there is a problem with the screen.

You may want to give tomtom a call on 08451610009.

how can i test the new battery that has been installed? and is there some kind of charging chip inside the 700 that could of gone! this would explain the very dim green light!!
