Default Tom Tom 5 On Nokia 6680

Hi,

Just managed to get Tom Tom 5 pre-loaded on to a 256 dv rsmmc card, to use on my Nokia 6680.

Can anyone tell me if I NEED the actual Tom Tom gps receiver to use this?

or will any of the B.T. Qstarz or Polstar ones do the job as well?

Thanks.

hi reidster
i installed tt5 on my 6630 and used a bt gps reciever which i bought of ebay and it worked fine.
When you set up tt5 it gives you a choice between tomtoms gps reciever or other bt reciever choose the latter pair the device to the phone and all should be well
cheers

Thanks for that,
I think i will stick to the named brands, i.e. Tom Tom and B.T. etc.
Sounds like they both seem to work ok.

Hi there, I too bought a gps receiver form this guy and they do not work. He sent me a work-around but its useless. I think they are selling dodgy stock as my 6630 will not allow a connection to an unpaired evice. I also got Nokia to email me explaining that such a un-paired device does not work on the more recent firmwares as a security measure ! I have now bought an official Tom Tom reciever at double the price but it worked first time out fo the box.

He is being very funny now about giving me a refund but now i know there are others in the same boat i feel better for fighting my corner!

Matt

HI guys.
Have you ever used bluetooth GPS receiver with Nokia 6630 and using bluetooth handree at the same time ? Are there any conflicts. tks.

@ SmartZ & Recoveryman : I used to use Tomtom5 with O2 IIs and everything seemed very well. HOwever, Nokia 6630 is very slow with its own application, so do you find it slow when using with GPS receiver.

Cheers.
