Default Ebay PDA + TT3

JUst received the above for much cheapness on Ebay, altho TBH the TT software is a dodgy copy by the looks of.

Anyhow, I followed the instuctions onscreen and installled the maps to my storage card etc, I then plugged my GPS receiver in to my car cradle, then my PDA in to the cradle. I then went 'Start' - 'Programs' - then hit the little 'TomTom GPS' icon.

The program then runs with 3 icons at the bottom of the screen - Status, GPS, and Log.

On the Status screen I get a couple of longtitude/ latitude icons, a picture of a car with '0 mph' icon beside it and a little compass thing. There are a few more icons, but everything is blank and when I tap anything it just reverts back to 'Today' screen

When I tap on the GPS screen I get a map of the world at the bottom, plus settings, which are set at 'TomTom Navigator GPS' and a comms port.

The 3rd screen is the 'Log' screen, which shows some kind of recoreder ???

I have no TomTom instructions, and am a little bit lost, I do not seem to get to the proper program. Any help appreciated, Steve

There's a good chance it is but it may be the person who sold it has given you his back-up copy by mistake.

The one way to be sure is set up as Other NMEA - 4800 Baud - on SP2.

If that doesn't work then the maps have probably been activated to another device. Device Code + Product Code = Activation code via TT. In which case you have dealt with one of the morons on eBay.

TT3 maps are well out of date now so it would probably pay you to go for TTN5, if you can still find a genuine copy, or TTN6. Before going for TTN6 make sure your device is on the compatibilty list, or you will find it won't work or be very slow updating maps.
